Here are answers to common questions about yard greetings, setup, pickup, weather, service areas, and preparing your yard.

Booking & Celebration Details

How does booking work?

Start by sending us your celebration date, location, message, colours, theme ideas, and yard-surface details. We will review your request and follow up to confirm availability, display options, and any setup considerations before your booking is finalized.

What types of celebrations can I book?

We help with birthdays, graduations, baby welcomes, anniversaries, retirements, engagements, welcome-home surprises, I love you displays, business celebrations, school events, team celebrations, and other special moments.

Can you match colours or themes?

Yes. Share your preferred colours, school colours, theme ideas, hobbies, or special details when you request your display. We will use our available yard greeting pieces to create a setup that fits the occasion.

How far in advance should I request a display?

The earlier the better, especially for busy seasons like graduation, weekends, and holidays. Last-minute requests may be possible depending on availability.

Setup

Setup, Pickup & Yard Prep

How long does the display stay up?

Most setups are completed the evening prior to the event, typically after 8:00 PM. Take down is usually completed the next day, typically after 8:00 PM. Other setup or pickup times may be available and are subject to discussion. The standard rental is approximately 24 hours.

Can I keep the display longer?

Displays may be rented for up to 48 hours. The second day is always half price.

How should I prepare my yard?

Please clear the setup area of toys, hoses, lawn tools, and pet waste before installation. If sprinklers are used, please make sure they are turned off before setup. Please do not mow around the signs during the rental window.

What if my yard has artificial grass, rocks, gravel, or frozen ground?

Let us know when booking. Standard lawn displays use stakes, but for artificial grass, rock, gravel, frozen ground, or winter displays, we can discuss alternate setup options.

What areas do you serve?

Talk Of The Block is based in Red Deer and serves nearby Central Alberta communities, towns, and surrounding areas, including Penhold, Blackfalds, Lacombe, Sylvan Lake, Innisfail, Bowden, Olds, Ponoka, Bentley, Eckville, Rimbey, and Rocky Mountain House.

What happens during bad weather or extreme winter conditions?

Alberta weather can change quickly. High winds, frozen ground, heavy snow, freezing rain, lightning, and extreme cold can affect setup safety and display quality. Talk Of The Block may delay, adjust, or cancel a setup if conditions are unsafe or likely to damage the display. As a general guideline, setups may be reviewed when temperatures are colder than -30C and/or wind gusts are around 30 km/h or higher. If we cannot complete a setup because of extreme weather or unsafe conditions, we will contact you as soon as possible and issue a full refund or discuss available rescheduling options.

Policies

Policies & Display Care

Can I move or remove the signs?

Please do not move, remove, or rearrange the display after setup. If something needs to be adjusted, contact us first so we can help protect the signs and avoid damage.

Can children or pets play with the display?

Please keep children and pets away from the display. They should not play with, climb on, move, or rearrange the signs. This helps keep everyone safe and protects the display pieces.

Do you take photos of the display?

We may take photos of the finished display for internal setup records. Website and social media marketing photos are used only with customer permission. House numbers, exact addresses, and people will not be shown without permission.

When is payment due?

Payment is required at the time of booking. Full payment is required to confirm the booking. We currently accept e-transfer and cash. Credit card payment options may be added later.

What is your cancellation policy?

Cancellations with more than 24 hours' notice before the scheduled setup time are eligible for a full refund. Cancellations with less than 24 hours' notice before the scheduled setup time will result in a cancellation fee of 50% of the paid total.

What if I provide the wrong date, address, or setup details?

Please review your booking details carefully before confirming. If incorrect information prevents setup or causes the display to be set up at the wrong time or location, the booking may be treated as completed or cancelled depending on the circumstances and availability.
